19th. September by two Chinese Lightkeepers under the Harbour Department Chu Yu Mu and Chu Mi by name.

"They swam across the gap in a very rough sea and assisted the man who was badly bruised and in a very exhausted state from his long exposure over the rocks to the water's edge where they placed a life buoy round him and helped him again to this part of the Island, thus risking their own lives twice and undoubtedly saving his".

This action is being brought to the notice of the Trustees of a local fund formed by the late Mr. Belilios for rewarding life saving.

The Principal Civil Medical Officer has brought to notice "that Senior Sanitary Inspectors Lamble and Lyon, Plague Inspectors Fincher and Mackenzie, and District Inspector Dawson helped to save many lives on the 18th. September: that Inspectors McEwen, Fisher and Connolly and District Inspectors Frith and Amy also did good work on that day: and that almost the whole of the Sanitary Staff worked thoroughly well and for many hours overtime in helping to clear up the City and Kowloon of the accumulated débris".

Letters thanking them for their services have been written to those of the above who saved lives and my appreciation of the work of the Department in general has been expressed to it.

(Public Works Department and Supreme Court).

Overseers I. A. Wheal and J. C. Pollock of the Public Works Department and Mr. A. W. Hill clerk and usher to the Supreme Court were also reported to have rendered valuable assistance to the Police in saving life and have been thanked for their good work.
